Malacañang on Friday welcomed the results of the latest OCTA Research survey that showed a significant decline in the number of Filipino families who consider themselves poor.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro attributed the survey results to the success of President Marcos’ administration’s antipoverty and social welfare initiatives.

The nationwide survey from April 10 to April 16 showed that self-rated poverty dropped to 42 percent from 50 percent in November 2024.

The drop represents an estimated 2.1 million Filipino families who have seen improvement in their standard of living and no longer consider themselves poor. Castro attributed the results to the administration’s targeted programs aimed at poverty alleviation.
