INC peace rally: Lacuna supports Marcos opposition to VP impeachment

MANILA, Philippines –The local government of Manila supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s opposition to the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to Mayor Honey Lacuna.
“The local government of Manila supports our President’s call regarding the impeachment,” Lacuna told reporters in Filipino during a chance interview at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday.
Lacuna likewise revealed she attended Iglesia Ni Cristo’s “National Rally of Peace,” to join the church’s call for unity within the government.
“The Manila City is here to join calls for unity and peace,” the mayor said in Filipino.
Aside from Lacuna, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also attended the event, joining the call of INC members for unity and peace in the country.
“Kami ay nakikiisa sa panawagan ni pangulong Bongbong Marcos at Ka-Eduardo V. Manalo na magkaroon ng kapayapaan at pagkakaisa sa ating bansa na siya ring layunin ng maraming liderato sa buong bansa (We stand in solidarity with the call of President Bongbong Marcos and Ka-Eduardo V. Manalo to have peace and unity in our country which is also the goal of many leaders throughout the country.),” the former mayor said in a short interview.
Article continues after this advertisementAs of 10 a.m. the crowd estimate monitored in the area has already reached 1.5 million, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Article continues after this advertisementPNP said it deployed 5,500 personnel to ensure public safety during the rally.
Lacuna said no untoward incidents were monitored within Manila.
